How I teach and why I support the JPII mission:

STEM subjects can be hard for everyone but with curiosity, persistence, and applying the learning style that works best for you, they become easier over time and can be exhilarating. My goal is to give students agency in STEM subjects — help them know they can persist with faith, feel successful, and find new ways to serve others as their intellect develops.

About my previous experiences:

My teaching experience includes STEM subjects for Upward Bound and biology at the community college level. My work prior to teaching includes being a research scientist at the UW (global fishery management) and various positions for the state (salmonid research and management).

I hail from:

I was born in Spokane, WA and have lived or done research throughout the state.

In my spare time:

I enjoy dog parks (my husband and I are raising two large, young, and quite rambunctious rescue dogs (husky/malamute mix and lab/shepherd mix), nature walks, gardening, reading, and watching YouTube videos on science and math.
