The JPII cross country squad is one of our strongest programs. In 2019, only their second year of team competition, the girls team won the State 1B/2B team title. This was the first time a JPII sports team has ever won a State title. The girls won the State 1B/2B title again in 2021 and 2022! There was no state championship in 2020 due to COVID.

In cross country, the boys and girls compete against 2B schools to win a State title, unlike track and other sports.

The boys team has finished as the number one team in the state four years in a row in the 1B ranks, but they compete against all 1B/2B teams in the State Championships. They finished second in state four years to a 2B team.

Cross country requires personal discipline and commitment to work. This program builds character and fitness competency that can be applied throughout a lifetime.
