Many in our community may already have heard the exciting news, but it deserves to be celebrated far and wide: Coach Larry Weber, JPII’s longtime cross country and track & field coach, has been selected for induction into the Washington State Coaches Cross-Country Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor will be awarded at a ceremony on January 23, 2026, at the Tacoma Murano Hotel.
Coach Weber’s impact on JPII—and on high school distance running across Washington—cannot be overstated. His leadership has shaped championship-level teams, but even more importantly, he has formed young athletes of character, perseverance, and integrity. His induction is a testament not only to competitive success, but to the countless hours he has poured into mentoring students and fostering a culture of excellence grounded in humility and hard work.
For those who would like to join in celebrating this achievement, you may register for the Hall of Fame ceremony here. We also invite you to read Coach Weber’s official Hall of Fame biography here, which highlights the breadth of his contributions to the sport and to generations of runners.
