JPII High School’s cross country program is starting the 2025 season with top honors in the Washington State High School Cross Country pre-season poll rankings. The Washd Runner, a leading source for high school running coverage in Washington, has ranked both the JPII Girls Cross Country Team and the JPII Boys Cross Country Team as No. 1 in the state in their respective classifications.
Girls Cross Country: Strong Expectations for the Season Ahead
The JPII Girls Cross Country Team enters the season with high expectations after securing the top spot in the pre-season poll. While the team graduated three of the seven runners who competed at last year’s state championships, the Eagles are ready to rise to the challenge. Their first big test will come at the JPII home meet on September 17, 2025, where they will face other top-ranked programs from across the state.
Boys Cross Country: Experienced Roster Poised for Success
The JPII Boys Cross Country Team also claims the No. 1 pre-season ranking. With six of seven runners from last year’s state meet returning, the boys bring a depth of experience and talent that positions them as strong contenders for another successful season.
Recognition from Coach Larry Weber
Head Coach Larry Weber, who has guided JPII to multiple league, district, and state titles, expressed gratitude for the recognition: “we appreciate being ranked in the Washington State High School Pre-Season Cross-Country Rankings by the Washd Runner, a primary media outlet for high school running coverage in the state.”
