The JPII guys and girls are Sea-Tac League Champions! Congrats to both teams. This is as far as the Eagles can go this year because there is no district or state championship.

The Lady Eagles

The defending state champion, JPII ladies were led by Vivi K. at the league championships this year. Vivi is also the Sea-Tac League Individual Champion for the second consecutive cross-country season!

Vivi was followed by Maggie L., who finished in second place overall, Catelin K. finished third, Moriah S. in fourth, and Holley N. finished in sixth place overall. Holley returned to the JPII top five this week. Bella K., Taylor A., Emeline R., Emelie C., and Josie F. all finished in the top 11 overall! The Eagles placed ten runners in the top eleven runners in the race.

Special kudos to senior Maggie L.. This is Maggie’s second consecutive Sea-Tac League championship Runner-up placing. Congratulations to Emeline R. and Holley N. as well. The seniors had a great competitive outing in their last high school cross-country race.

The girls ran great tonight on a slow but extremely well-marked and organized course. The course may have been slow, but the girls were blazing competitively tonight!

The JPII Guys

The JPII guys team had their best competitive outing as a team. Like the JPII girls, every single person had a great competitive race tonight. The JPII guys were a favorite to challenge for the state championship title this year before the WIAA state cross-country meet was canceled.

Kobe D. won the Sea-Tac League individual championship once again. Trevor D. followed Kobe in second place overall, Luke C. was third overall, and Noah A., who had his best competitive race of the season when it counted most. Noah finished fifth overall, followed by Joseph H., sixth overall, and Joe O., seventh.

Logan J., Ryan C., Nathan M., and Sam H. ran in a pack and all finished within a couple of seconds of each other. It was amazing to watch this group of guys run together and do so well! All of these young men were in the top 12 runners overall! Freshman Kaden H. was close behind and finished just one spot out of a top 15 finish. Kaden is improving weekly. I was so proud of this entire group.

Speaking of being proud, Josh H. had his best race of the season and finished ahead of runners he had never finished ahead of before. Josh has improved greatly this year and is part of our fantastic freshman group.

With a strong group of freshman and sophomores, the future looks bright for the Eagles.

Overall Team Accomplishments!

The Eagles were named the Sportsmanship Team of the Year by the Sea-Tac League coaches Thursday night. This award has to be ratified by the athletic directors, but the coaches honored our kids tonight by announcing the award’s team winner last night at the race. Your Eagles were blessed to win this award from the league coaches for the second consecutive season.

Both teams are ranked number one in the state on athletic.net in their state divisions as of March 16, 2021. The Athletic.net system tracks all high school cross-country and track and field times for running and the field events at state and national levels. The athletic.net system is just an approximate measure of how teams are doing state and nationwide because every course is different in cross-country.

The boys and girls teams also set team cumulative time records this year. This means the top five Eagle times averaged on both squads were the best in school history.

I will always remember the incredible heart and perseverance of this year’s teams. You have amazing kids’ parents! These kids demonstrated resilience, hard work, dedication, and a never-give-up attitude in the midst of many challenges this year.

I want to thank our parents who gave their time and resources to help our teams this year. Thanks to the JPII administration for all their help as well. Thanks to Diana Roberts and Anna Thomas for helping with various athletic training and strength training activities.

Most of all, thank you to my amazing assistant coach, Dr. Tracy Russell, for your commitment, dedication, and going the extra mile daily.

Thank you Lord, for such an amazing community and season!

Blessings,
