The 2019-2020 season was another incredible success for our chapter. We have continued to improve in every aspect of FBLA. This year, we managed to keep membership high, despite losing a number of seniors. JPII’s FBLA chapter hosts over one third of our school. We placed consistently at regionals, with over 90% of our club qualifying for state, and 10 members placing first.

At the state-level competition, our club adapted to the virtual layout with great flexibility. Many of our students scripted, filmed, edited, uploaded, and submitted their digital events on their own. Some members’ events were reduced to objective tests.

Still, JPII was wildly successful! 14 students placed at state, and 5 teams qualified for nationals. All five teams will compete in the National Virtual Leadership Conference in June!

JPII FBLA National First Place Winner! Congratulations Annika Dawley, Class of 2020, took first place at the Virtual National Leadership Experience for FBLA-PBL in the Help Desk event!!!!  This is Annika’s first year at trying this event, (3-year FBLA member) and she took first at our Capital Region Conference & Competition, WA State Business Leaders Virtual Conference and Competition, and the Virtual National Leadership Experience!!  Incredible!  Annika will be receiving her awards in the coming weeks.

This year, our fundraising efforts also brought in a record amount. Through activities like painting fire hydrants for the city of Lacey and seeking generous sponsorships, our chapter was able to fully fund both the state and national conferences for all members for the first time in chapter history.

Despite the second half of the year being dominated by the pandemic, FBLA remained exciting and challenging, fun-filled and memorable, nonetheless.

We are looking forward to what the 2020-2021 school year will have in store.
