Office of the Archbishop
My Dear Friends:
I am pleased to introduce
you to Pope John Paul II High School, the newest
Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Seattle. On
this website you will discover the vision to provide
access to Catholic education in the South Sound region
to those currently not served with a secondary option.
In an area that includes five Catholic elementary
schools and one Catholic university, there is a clear
gap in the continuity of Catholic education for our
young people.
Catholic schools are an excellent investment in our
future as a Church and civic community. Pope John Paul
II High School will possess a distinctly Catholic
identity that will not only help students attain
knowledge but also provide moral and spiritual
formation in the traditions and teachings of the
Catholic Church. What distinguishes Catholic education
from private or public education is not only the
important spiritual formation it provides but the
belief that academic excellence in the pursuit of
knowledge is always at the service of others.
"Catholic education
prepares children to become faithful and
effective leaders who are servants of the Church
and the common good."
– Most Rev. Alex J.
Brunett, Archbishop of Seattle
That is why Catholic schools provide
personalized attention and promote high expectations.
Catholic education prepares children to become faithful
and effective leaders who are servants of the Church
and the common good. This is good news for our
communities.
As Archbishop I give my full support to efforts to
establish Pope John Paul II High School in the area
where the need and demand have been fully researched
and established. I encourage you to join me in making
this need a reality.
With warmest regards and wishes, I remain
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Rev. Alex J. Brunett
Archbishop of Seattle
