Sophomore Admissions
Admissions Process for Incoming Sophomores 2010-2011
We are happy and excited to welcome you to become the very first graduating class of Pope John Paul II High School!
Pope John Paul II High School educates students to Pursue Truth, Act Virtuously and Build Community. To join our community of learners, please complete each of the steps outlined below:
- Current high school grades and standardized test scores. Also, if available, 8th grade test scores and grades. Please print the Release Form to authorize the current school to release records. Students should have at least a C average in their current course work. If you feel you have extenuating circumstances you wish to explain to us, please call Therese Allin at JPII. We believe all students need to be fully engaged in and committed to their own education in order to succeed academically. Based on this belief, we intend to accept as many students with these traits as our space allows.
- Positive references from current Math, English and Science teachers, the Principal or school counselor. Please use our recommendation forms and provide each teacher with a stamped and addressed envelope.
- A reference from a student’s parish or church Pastor. This form could also be completed by a youth group leader, religion teacher or any faith leader who knows the student. If your student is not involved in a parish or church, please indicate this on the form.
- Indication of involvement in community/parish service. The student will have the opportunity to share their involvement on the Application for Admission form.
- Writing sample to be written during the interview time or upon arrangement. The writing sample will take approximately 30 minutes and will be used in conjunction with other academic data to determine a student’s academic placement.
- Interview if deemed necessary. Interviews are scheduled to occur in the first two weeks of February.
