All applicants for the 9th grade must take the placement exam and complete a short student essay. Exams dates are in December and January and take place at JPII at 5608 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey, WA 98503. Please call the front office at 360 438-7600 to reserve a spot. There is a $30 fee collected on the day of the test.
The applicant may also take the exam at one of the other Catholic High Schools administering the High School Placement Test (HSPT) and request that the test scores be sent to Pope John Paul II High School.
The applicant needs to provide their Math, English, and Science teachers, as well as, their principal or school counselor and the student’s parish or church pastor with a recommendation form. Please ask that the forms be mailed directly to Pope John Paul II High School, Attention Admissions.
Student Transcripts: Release of Records
Parents must complete and turn in the Permission for Release of Records Form to the student’s current school Registrar and ask that copies of all the student’s standardized test scores, report cards, and transcript information (copies only – not the originals) be mailed directly to Pope John Paul II High School by January 13, 2017 for first consideration. Please note: Since JPII would like to receive the student’s grades for the first semester or trimester of the 8th grade year, school secretaries or registrars should not send student’s records until those grades are on the transcript.
Parents of applicants applying for first consideration facilitated tuition must complete FACTS assessment on-line and submit required documentation no later than December 31, 2016. For more information, see the FACTS information here. We will continue to review FACTS applications after that date, but facilitated tuition may be limited.
Admissions and Facilitated Tuition Information Meetings
Parents are invited to attend an informational meeting about the admissions process and Facilitated Tuition. These meetings will be held on the HSPT testing dates in December and January at Pope John Paul II High School. After these dates, you can request that we setup a meeting to discuss this information.
All completed applications will be reviewed by JPII’s admissions committee. Applicants will be assigned one of three statuses: Admitted, Not Admitted, or Pending. Some students and parents will be asked to complete an interview with admissions personnel before a decision is reached. For first consideration, these interviews will take place in February and decision letters will be mailed in late February. We will continue to review completed applications after that date and decide on a case by case basis.
Admitted applicants must complete the Registration Form, pay the registration fee, establish a tuition payment plan (including facilitated tuition), and return the Enrollment Contract in March.
Student Registration Night
Student Registration Night is held in May where students and parents will meet their fellow classmates and register for classes. We will continue to review completed registrations after that date and request interviews to determine registration for classes.
